FAQs

Who can enter Midnight Madness?

Teams of up to six players from finance, tech, or other professional sectors. Many companies send internal teams, but mixed-company or sponsored teams are also welcome.

When and where does it take place?

The next event will be held in London on 16 May 2026, running overnight from approximately 7pm to 7am. Exact locations remain secret until the night, and your team will need to solve a puzzle ahead of the night to find out where the first location will be.

Who typically plays?

Midnight Madness attracts some of the brightest minds from finance, tech, and beyond — with past players from Goldman Sachs, MAN Group, PDT Partners, Quadrature, Bridgewater, Mercuria, XTX Markets, Barclays, and Morgan Stanley, among others. Most teams are London-based, though some even fly in from New York to compete.

Over half of teams each year are returning players, and several have taken part in all the London editions — proof that once you’ve played, you’ll want to do it again.

That said, we’re always excited to welcome new teams, whose fresh energy and curiosity bring something special to the night. If you’re considering joining for the first time, this is the perfect year to do it. Each edition is completely reimagined — with new puzzles, storylines, and locations — so whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned veteran, everyone starts on equal footing and has an unforgettable experience.

How competitive is it?

Very — but always in the right spirit. Midnight Madness is designed to challenge every kind of team: From puzzle pros and lateral thinkers to first-timers who love a challenge — or those who simply want to share a wildly fun, immersive experience with colleagues.

All teams start from the same point, tackling the same overarching storyline and puzzles. Every year the experience is completely rebuilt — so whether you’re a returning player or brand new, you’ll face an equal test.

For example, last year, teams could choose between two levels of intensity — Mastery for those chasing every last point, and Momentum for those preferring the full adventure with a little less pressure. Future formats will continue to ensure a fair, thrilling competition for everyone.

Is Midnight Madness right for my company?

If your company values teamwork, creativity, and purpose — yes. Midnight Madness is more than a challenge; it’s a night that bonds colleagues, tests limits, and leaves a legacy far beyond the finish line.

Team building at its best: Strengthen collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership in a fast-paced, high-fun environment that gets everyone thinking — and laughing — together.

CSR with real impact: Your participation directly fuels Raise Your Hands work, helping small, high-impact children’s charities across the UK thrive. It’s corporate social responsibility that employees genuinely want to be part of.

A standout experience, a story to tell: Forget golf days and gala dinners. This is an overnight, cinematic adventure that turns London into your playground — one your team will talk about for years, and one that becomes part of your company’s story.

Employer brand boost: Show your people (and future talent) that your company invests in experiences with meaning, creativity, and purpose.

Networking & visibility: Join leading firms in finance, tech, and beyond — competing, connecting, and celebrating together in one extraordinary night.

What actually happens on the night?

From ~7pm–7am, you’ll solve linked puzzles across multiple secret London locations. Each puzzle unlocks the next venue — a fully immersive set with live characters and story beats. Expect a Crystal Maze meets Da Vinci Code vibe, with movement between venues on foot or public transport.

The event is professionally managed with safety staff, medics, and the Game Control team monitoring players all night.

You’ll use an app to check in and out of venues, track time, request hints, and speak to your Game Control handler. Key rules include: don’t tamper with clues, no private motorised vehicles, follow Game Control instructions, and play in the spirit of the event.

Teams earn Game Points throughout the night; the highest total wins the coveted Midnight Madness Trophy. Other prizes and mentions are awarded in the closing ceremony while the teams have breakfast.

What kind of puzzles can we expect?

That’s a hard one to answer — because part of the magic of Midnight Madness is the unexpected. You won’t find anything like crosswords or sudoku here. Instead, you’ll face an extraordinary mix of challenges designed for this one night.

Think escape-room-style tasks, clever searches, hidden clues, unexpected connections and moments that make your whole team work together. You might find yourself negotiating with actors (who sometimes are the puzzle!), exploring iconic London venues in character, or tackling a challenge straight out of a video game.

Every puzzle ties into the story, the setting, and the theme — whether that’s dodging traps in an Indiana Jones temple or solving clues mid-adrenaline rush (yes, we’ve even sent players speeding down the London Orbital Slide!).

Test your mettle by trying out this puzzle!

What are the next steps after we enquire?

1. We support you in getting any information you might need internally to make the case for participating.
2. Team registration & captain is confirmed once registration fee is paid. The team chooses their own name and logo.
3. Team captain recruits its 5 team members, and all players register online.
4. Fundraising page for your team goes live about one month ahead of the event.
5. Pre-event comms via Slack, including the games rules and the puzzle which reveals the secret start location.
6. Game night. (16.05.26)

Do I need any special skills or fitness level?

No specialist knowledge is required. Midnight Madness is about collaboration, quick thinking, and enthusiasm. A reasonable fitness level helps — you’ll be on your feet for much of the night — but the challenge is designed to be achievable and fun.

What’s included in the entry fee?

Your registration covers the full overnight event — from professional actors, immersive set design, and puzzle production to breakfast catering, safety, and logistics for all six players.

How much does it cost to take part?

Each team pays a £3,900 registration fee and commits to raising a minimum of £22,000 for Raise Your Hands.

In 2025, teams raised on average £34,000 each.

Where does the money go?

Funds support Raise Your Hands, helping us continue our work amplifying the impact of small, high-performing children’s charities across the UK. Your team’s fundraising fuels our grantmaking, operations, and long-term sustainability.

How does fundraising work?

Each team gets an online fundraising page on this website with their team name, logo and message. Players share it with colleagues, clients, friends, and family to collect donations ahead of the event.

Company contributions: Many firms cover a significant portion of the target via a single corporate gift (or a few large gifts). That’s welcome — and we can process larger/offline amounts (e.g., DAFs, bank transfers, stocks & shares) and manually attribute them to your team.

Matched giving: If your company offers donation matching (via an internal process or platforms like Benevity, CAF or CyberGrants), encourage donors to apply. We’ll track and credit matched gifts to your team once confirmed.

The Hall of Heroes (fundraising leaderboard):
All verified donations (online or offline) roll up into the Hall of Heroes, a real-time leaderboard that fuels friendly competition and momentum. The top fundraising team receives the Fundraisers’ Trophy — traditionally an iconic, one-off prop crafted from the game world (e.g., a bespoke puzzle artifact).

Will we get photos or video footage?

Yes. Every team is captured by our professional media crew on the night, and you’ll receive highlights after the event.
You can also explore photos and videos from previous editions on our Past Events page.
